Carx
I developed Carx using the MERN Stack, which consists of React for the front end, Node.js and Express.js for the backend, and MongoDB as the database. For the website's design and styling, I utilized Material UI as a CSS framework and incorporated custom CSS when required.
What was broken, and why it mattered.
The automotive marketplace needed a full-stack platform where sellers could list vehicles and buyers could search, filter, and compare cars efficiently. The platform required a robust search and filtering engine, reliable multi-photo listing management, and a streamlined buyer-seller contact flow.
How I fixed it.
Built the complete automotive marketplace with seller vehicle listing creation including multi-photo upload, full specifications, and pricing, a buyer search and filter interface covering make, model, year, price range, mileage, and location, saved car lists, vehicle comparison tools, and a direct buyer-seller contact system.
Implemented Firebase for real-time listing updates and image storage, with optimized image loading for fast browsing across large listing sets.
Numbers that actually moved.
What I'd do differently.
Marketplace products are won or lost in the search and filter experience. A buyer who cannot quickly narrow thousands of listings to a relevant shortlist will leave immediately. This project reinforced the importance of investing heavily in search relevance and filter UX before building any secondary features.
